The Grange
Situated on a 1,012m2 block in Brisbane’s inner north suburb of Grange, The Olive Tree house is a striking renovation designed by leading architect Tim Stewart. The house sits commandingly on the block after being raised and moved to the centre of the block.
The front entryway features select grade spotted gum timber externally and creates a inviting welcome while hinting at an imposing off form concrete wall. Internally, timber feature pieces are complemented by burnished concrete floors and charcoal cabinetry throughout the downstairs living and dining areas.
The large island bench features an isometric waterfall edge on one end, adding to the focal point of the kitchen. European appliances including two fully integrated Asko dishwashers, pyrolytic 900mm Ilve oven and state of the art Ilve induction cooktop are complemented by gun metal tap-wear throughout the house.
A climate controlled cellar including custom wine racking and lockable double glazed timber entry door makes for hard to forget (or...remember!) dinner parties. In house made stair stringers with spotted gum treads, open risers, back-lit handrail and timber balustrade provide main access to the upstairs areas.
Upstairs, four bedrooms including a main bathroom, master bedroom, walk in robe, and ensuite are appointed with custom timber veneer, limestone and Magic Touch joinery. Solid timber spotted gum floors are treated with natural stain to retain raw texture and colour. Large levelled lawns are ideal for backyard sporting activities. A single cricket net and bowling machine have been installed to support budding cricketing careers. Coloured concrete paths and a detached carport with smooth finish garage door complement the architectural integrity of the home.
Aqua Bocci threshold drains enable internal floor areas to transition seamlessly to outdoor areas. Large pocket sliding doors invite visitors to an outdoor room with fireplace and off form concrete hearth, surrounded by natural landscape, balustrading by JAC, and a large(4.8mx10m) in ground pool.
Limestone adds to the elegance of this project and has been used extensively throughout all bathrooms (as both tiles benchtops) as well as in the kitchen (benchtops and splashbacks). Full height cabinetry using Decodur Magic Touch Laminate provides extensive and practical storage. Fully integrated Liebherr fridges use Blum Tip-On Blumotion push catches for the ultimate in smooth opening and closing.
