Mary Valley Home is a contemporary take on many of the classic buildings often found on rural Australian properties. Designed by local architect, Erin Wheatley, the home takes in expansive views of the valley to the north with natural light bathing every room.
Locally sourced timber is used throughout with custom spotted gum collar ties, window reveals, balustrades and trellises referencing the building’s rural setting. Internally, hand made spotted gum door hardware and grey ironbark flooring also pay homage to the home’s ‘homestead’ genetics.
High efficiency glazing assists the AWS aluminium windows and doors to manage temperature, while the innovative use of large sliding doors (as windows) along hallways, living areas and in the master bedroom generate breeze and keep the home exceptionally comfortable. Solar power system with provision for battery and generator backup maximises energy efficiency and allows the family to rest easy in the event that the property is isolated without power. Large tank water storage built under the northern wing of the building and sewage treatment plant combine to bring modern amenity to the rural lifestyle.
Four large bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, kitchen, dining, living and laundry are all appointed with state-of-the-art fittings and fixtures. These include V-Zug appliances, Carrara Marble and porcelain benchtops and 6 Star Wells rated plumbing fittings. A heated plunge pool ideally located on the north western edge of the building takes in the expansive views and completes the perfect family home.
